ABOUT VERONICA CECIL, LCSW, CGP, CCTP-II, EMDR

Owner and Psychotherapist

Hello!  My name is Veronica, and I am a strengths-based, trauma informed licensed clinical social worker.  I created this counseling practice because I am passionate about children, adolescents, and adults having safe spaces to do brave and vulnerable healing work.  My favorite part of my job is getting to meet so many different kinds of people and witness their unique strengths and resilience.

I graduated from the University of Virginia (BA, English) and worked and volunteered in crisis intervention and advocacy for survivors of sexual and domestic violence receiving services in shelter and crisis centers.  I later graduated with my Masters in Social Work degree from Dominican University.  I completed the 65 hour sexual assault and domestic violence advocate certificate for Illinois, and I am a Certified Grief Professional and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.  I have worked as a trauma therapist for survivors of violent crimes for over five years, and have worked with various populations including pediatric patients with medical trauma, adolescent parents and women experiencing perinatal and birth trauma and loss, survivors of interpersonal violence, family member survivors of homicide and suicide, immigrants seeking U-Visas, and children and families receiving services at child advocacy centers.

During the pandemic, I volunteered with the Emotional PPE Program as a pro-bono provider for trauma therapy and grief counseling for first responders and medical providers involved in Covid 19 treatment efforts.

I am certified in EMDR therapy, and I have training in grief counseling and bereavement support, TF-CBT, DBT,

trauma-informed play therapy, and sandtray therapy.
